Contaminated water removed and the area disinfected by a crew trained to handle it safely.
A sewage backup is one of the more serious water damage situations a Whitefield, ME property owner can face, because the water involved carries bacteria and contaminants that create real health risks. FreshAir Restoration treats every sewage cleanup call with the caution it requires, using protective equipment and containment procedures designed to keep contamination from spreading to unaffected areas of the property.
The cleanup process starts with removing the contaminated water and any solid waste, followed by removal of porous materials that came into contact with sewage, since items like carpet, carpet padding and some types of drywall cannot be safely cleaned once exposed to sewage contamination. Our technicians identify which materials fall into this category so nothing that poses a health risk is left behind.
Because sewage backups often stem from a plumbing or municipal line issue rather than a single isolated event, our Whitefield, ME technicians pay attention to whether a backup appears likely to recur, and we communicate what we observe so you can follow up with a plumber if needed. Addressing the cleanup without flagging a recurring source risk does not serve the homeowner well, and we would rather give you the full picture than simply clean up and move on to the next job without mentioning a pattern we noticed.
After contaminated materials are removed, the affected area is cleaned and disinfected using products suited to sewage contamination, not just general cleaning solutions. We then dry the space using the same monitored drying process used on other water losses, confirming with moisture readings that the area is fully dry before considering the job complete, since residual moisture in a previously contaminated space is a significant mold risk.
FreshAir Restoration has handled sewage cleanup projects across Whitefield, ME for 15 years, and we understand how disruptive and unpleasant this type of loss is for a household or business. Call 1 (877) 264-5920 as soon as you notice a sewage backup, and avoid entering the affected area until our team arrives if possible.
Sewage backups are stressful and often urgent. Our Whitefield, ME team moves quickly once contacted, bringing the protective equipment and cleaning products needed to handle the job safely from the first visit rather than requiring a separate assessment trip. We also walk you through which areas were affected and what was done to disinfect them, so you have a clear record of the work.
We do not recommend it, since sewage contains bacteria and pathogens that require protective equipment and proper disposal procedures to handle safely.
Porous materials that absorbed contaminated water, such as carpet, padding and certain drywall, typically need to be removed since they cannot be fully disinfected.
The space is cleaned, disinfected and dried using monitored equipment, and moisture levels are checked before the job is considered complete.
